Namibia 2004
Rodriguez arrived in Windhoek, Namibia from Detroit on his 62nd birthday (10th July) and was met by his daughter, Eva, who now lives in South Africa.
Rodriguez performed a one-off concert in a place called Otjiwarongo on Thursday 15th July 2004. This small Namibian town is approximately 400kms from Windhoek. This concert was part of the Cheetah National Arts Festival.
Namibian Fan My husband, John Redman, has the following comments:
"I found Rodriguez a very humble person with a good stage personality. He is a "peace" person. He is now a member of the Cheetah Foundation. It was a privilege to be at his show, it was like a life long dream come true! He is a favourite artist of mine since childhood. Everybody loved him. He performed with local musicians. The show was 1 ½ hours and he sang 15-16 songs: I think the show was in aid of the Cheetah Foundation."
Songs: (unconfirmed)
I WONDER, ONLY GOOD FOR CONVERSATION, CAN'T GET AWAY, CRUCIFY YOUR MIND, JANE S PIDDY, TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, LIKE JANIS, INNER CITY BLUES, STREET BOY, A MOST DISGUSTING SONG, HALFWAY UP THE STAIRS, I THINK OF YOU, RICH FOLKS HOAX, CLIMB UP ON MY MUSIC, SUGAR MAN, ESTABLISHMENT BLUES, FORGET IT.
We drove 400km from the coast and it was worth everything! Will definitely attend any other concert in the future. -- Nelie Redman, 23rd July 2004
